Seleção de posts | Selection of posts

I've compiled a short selection of posts today to keep you busy in the next few days!

In English
- To have fun and see yourself with humour: Mox's Blog is still posting its funny comic strips: http://mox.ingenierotraductor.com/. If you don't know them yet, read them all.

- Thoughts on Translation has launched an idea: There is a niche for "personal software training". Someone
who would come to your home and teach you how to use software like Trados, for example. Faster and more efficiente than a seminar or training. http://thoughtsontranslation.com/2009/07/15/personal-software-training-a-niche-waiting-to-be-filled/

- Masked Translation has posted a reflexion on the differences between translators of different generations and invited its readers to comment: http://maskedtranslator.blogspot.com/2009/07/generations.html

In Portuguese:
- Fidus Interpres has thrown a question to all translators who use two monitors: What's the advantage? It will be interesting and useful to follow our colleagues' comments: http://fidusinterpres.com/?p=2647

- Tradutor Profissional always has excellent discussions on several interesting topics for translators. Danilo Nogueira 'doesn't mince words' and is a pleasure to read - he probably says what many of us would never have the nerve to. This week, I loved reading his post about translating lyrics: http://www.tradutorprofissional.com/2009/07/como-se-traduz-hernandos-hideaway.html. Very interesting how the translator managed to find a solution to a specific chorus. If you have time, read other posts, including this reply to an extremely malicious comment: http://www.tradutorprofissional.com/2009/07/traducao-automatica-da-microsoft.html

Also, several blogs which were nominated for 'Top 100 Language Blogs' are back to activity after a long hiatus. It's natural - keeping a blog is not an easy task and sometimes the blogger is discouraged. And if the nomination brings new vitality, the better for us who can benefit from more good posts to read. The list of nominated translation blogs is here: http://www.lexiophiles.com/language-blog-toplist/top-100-language-blogs-2009-nominated-blogs-language-professionals. (Several good blogs are not in the list - I will compile a list soon to post here.)

*****
